January 2012

News:
This is the start of a monthly newsletter from the shop. I’m trying to start the 2012 year off right and get things rolling with the newsletter and getting the website more traffic and better content. We have been very busy this year and are continuing to get busier. As most of you know we have been having monthly Honda meets at the shop, this I hope to continue for as long as I have the shop. We have a meet coming up this Saturday the 28th at 1pm, please bring food for the Potluck. The shop will be warm now that I have a new furnace, so we will have a much larger area to hang out.

Current Projects:
This month has been very busy so far. Fabians motor is getting rebuilt from the damage cause in his accident and he decided to go high compression while we had it apart and it should be ready before the meet. Andy is getting a d15b7 built as a temp motor for his new EG Coupe so he can start driving it. Geoff is working on his high compression z6 block, we’ve had a couple set backs with the crank, but should be moving forward on the new one we just got. John is getting an auto to manual conversion done on his EF Sedan as well as some new rings and bearings for the motor. Cody got his EG Hatch painted and the high compression z6 installed. Also we finally got Chris’ CRX (our web designer) to the shop so I can get his z6 swapped into it.

Updates for last months projects:
Anthony’s high compression B18 turned out awesome, lots of power and it sounds mean. I believe he’s almost done with the 1000 mile break in period too. My brothers transmission rebuild is still going strong, haven’t had any problems with it. Chances high compression z6 is running good, much better since is got the ecu flashed back to stock and we got the hole in the oil pan welded.

Website:
Website/forum traffic has dropped off a little, would love to see that pick up some. The shoutbox is up and running so you can chat with each other live and I have been updating the build threads as often as I can. I hope to get a DIY section added with some how-to articles.

Things in the Future:
Here in the spring I plan to have a Honda swap meet for those of you that need an excuse to clean the garage as well has a huge car show later in the summer/fall time frame. I will be putting information on the website as soon as I get the details sorted out.

Thanks for reading, until next month

February 2012

News:
February is looking to be an awesome month in the shop. We have a ton of cars coming in already and some fun projects we are working on. I am not sure I am going to be having a meet this month since it is a short month, we'll see how things go. I have not lined up another location for the meets yet either. If anybody has any ideas, hit me or Cody up. We have a twitter account now (@bshondashop) and a Facebook page as well.

Current Projects:
We have quite a few projects in the shop this month. Chris' CRX is getting the new z6 installed. Tim dropped off his EG civic for a motor rebuild cause it's burning some oil. Johns EX Sedan is still in the shop getting the auto2manual conversion done and the motor rebuilt. Blakes car is getting a motor upgrade and mpfi conversion done on his custom green hatch. Daniel is bring his new Prelude in next week for a possible motor swap, and Geoff finally found a good crank for his z6 build, so it should be going in soon.

Last months projects:
Fabian has his car back, we are still tweaking and breaking in the motor, it's running good, lots of power. I love the way his 7.5lb flywheel feels. Cody got his EG hatch back from paint and the high compression z6 installed. Just have to get suspension dialed in and his car will be great shape.

Website:
I've been doing a little work on the website. Mostly keeping it up to date. The calendar is always showing what projects we're working on as well and any shop events. I'm going to be adding in any shows, races and meets that I hear about as well.

For those of you that haven't had any work done at the shop, here are some basic costs:
Oil changes: $5 plus oil and filter, we will also do a full inspection on the car for preventative maintenance as well as top off all your fluids.
Labor Rate: $40 an hour

Specials:
Visit the website at least once a week for quick specials. I am going to be putting up specials like free labor on certain things, or discounted maintenance jobs or parts. I hope to be changing these weekly, so check back often so you don't miss out on anything.

Thanks for reading

March 2012

News:
I can't believe it's March already, February went by way too quick. We got some apparel added so you can purchase some BS Honda Shop shirts or hoodies. I think for March we are going to have a smaller meet, so I'm only inviting those of you that receive this newsletter and have signed up on the website. I'm looking at March 17th (St Pattys Day). I will post the final information up in the next day or so on the website, so check back to find the time and place (might not have it at the shop). Also the shop hours will be changing soon. I am going back to a normal 8-5 shift monday through friday, so I'll most likely be in the shop almost every night from 6-10 or so plus most weekend days.

Projects:
Chris' CRX is still in the shop, I've been busy with a couple other that projects that had complications and didn't get as much done on his as I would have liked. Tims car got done, and is running good. Blakes car had some setbacks. We got a motor from a guy in Payette that was in way worse condition that we thought. Every piston was cracked and had to be replaced. But it's running as good as it can be until the new wiring harness and other obd1 parts he needs come in. Nicoles new EG sedan is running great. We got it with a blown headgasket which has been fixed. It just needs some new spark plugs and final tweaking. Took it on a road trip a week or so ago and it did great. Last project I'm working on is Dillons turbo EG hatch, just doing some new rings since the stock ones don't seem to be liking boost much. Also upgrading to some arp head studs and adding a custom oil catch can.

Website:
I haven't kept up with the specials section last month like I said I would, so I'm going to try and do a nice special this month to make up for it. Keep your eyes peeled for that special. I'm adding a few more things to the "Services" section as well.

Shop Updates:
With our 20 ton press we have been playing with suspension bushings and can now upgrade your suspension bushings for you. We are also doing hub bearings, stock or extended lugs and ball joints. I also have a couple spare heads that I'm going to try and test out my port matching skills on if anybody would be interested in that as well. We also just ordered an OBD2 reader and a chip burner so we can start doing more ecu stuff and tuning.

See you next month or at the shop

April 2012

Well, to start the newsletter off, a local forum member has decided to shoot part of his music video at the shop. On Saturday April 14th @ noon, we are having a Meet at the Pipe Dreams Skate Park in Caldwell, ID. After that meet there is an invite only video/photo shoot at the shop. If you want to submit your ride for this part email frank @ procardevents.com. He is the one doing the music video and he'll be the one choosing which cars get to be there. I'm really excited about this and hope a bunch of you are able to make it.

Next on the list is a Car Show on May 19th. It's from 1pm-9pm in Ontario OR. To sign up check out www.procardevents.com. Registration is only $10 this month, bumps to $20 next month so register early. This is open to Imports, Muscle Cars, Lowriders, Trucks and Bikes. There will also be a car stereo competition.

I believe there are also a few other shows and events coming up, I will be posting
things on the main page of the website as I find out about them as well as putting them on the Calendar.

The shop has picked up about half the equipment I need to start tuning cars. I have a few more things to get. To help with this and help you guys I have setup a special. 1 year of unlimited tuning for $50. I will only be taking the first 6-8 people that sign up for this, so don't wait too long if you are interested. Also, this goes 1 year from the time I start tuning, not from when you purchase it.

That's it for this month, if you want to follow the projects the shop is working on, check out the forum on the website, I post and update all major jobs there.

May 2012

Another month has come and gone, lots of projects finished and new ones started. This is a special month for Nicole and I, it's our birthday month. Nicoles was on the 7th and mine is on the 14th. To celebrate, we are having a birthday BBQ on the 19th (a saturday).

Birthday BBQ
May 19th 2012 @ 2pm
Food we'll need help with: hamburgers, hot dogs, buns for both, chips, drinks
This is not a Honda meet, it's just a friends hang out to celebrate my Bday.

I have also been working on some mechanic training classes which I will be starting this month. The first one will be Saturday, May 26th at 11am and will last between 2 and 3 hours. This is my Valve train class and will be covering how to remove and install valves, lap valves, install new valve stem seals and adjust your valves. The class is only $15 per person, materials will be provided and there will be plenty of hands on labs as well. All information is available on the website under the Services section.

Not much else new going on this month. Come see us for some classes, I will be adding lots more very soon.

BS Honda Shop Newsletter - June 2012

Well, I've been slacking a little bit and haven't got the newsletter out as quick this month. I have a few things in the works for the shop this month and next month. I have a couple more people I need to pay for their tuning packages and I'll be ordering everything in for us to start tuning cars. I'm really excited about this because of all the custom stuff we can do, as well as get more power and even gas mileage out of the cars. The next is the classes, I've had great reviews from the first class and just have to get another one setup as well as write the material for a couple other ones I want to do. If there is something you would like to learn, hit me up (text, email, phone call) so I can get a class written for it.

I'm thinking about at having a Honda meet in July, it's been a while since I had one, and I think we are due for one. It will most likely be a BBQ, might have it at a park, or some place we can get a lot of cars.

Joes hatch is almost done, its been in the shop for a while, been doing quite a bit of wiring and customization on it. The Y8 intake manifold we had for it ended up being an automatic, so I had to do some custom fab work on it to make the manual IACV bolt up as well as drill holes for the intake air temp sensor. It's all bolted up now and pretty much ready to lift in. We also did an mpfi conversion and OBD1 conversion on it at the same time, so lots custom wiring which has taken up most of the time. This motor is turning into Frankensteins little brother. It's a ZC block w/ high compression pistons, Z6 Head and a Y8 intake manifold. We also got an 8lb flywheel and new clutch for it as well. It should be a blast to drive. He's taking it on a trip in a few weeks over to the Georgia area and back.

I haven't had any time to get to my sedan project this month, kinda bummed, but hopefully I can get going on it in July once Blake is back in the shop and helping me out. Welding in the new rear patch panels is going to be the first thing done.

Until next month

BS Honda Shop Newsletter - September 2012

This is going to be a big month for the shop. We finally got all the equipment ordered for tuning cars. I've very excited about this and hoping to dive right in and get some of the cars I've needed to tune done, including my own. We'll be tuning with Crome, a Moates Ostrich realtime emulator, Hulog datalogger, AEM Failsafe Wideband/Boost gauge and a set of detcans to listen for detonation and pinging.

I am also working on a new training class. This class should be taken by anybody that drives a car. It's my Vehicle Survival Class. We are going to go over all of the basics, oil, coolant, tires (including changing one), other fluids, what do to if something happens like overheating, etc. Also in the class are going to be checklists for preparing for trips and winter. I'm going to be offering couples prices on this cause I think it's an excellent class for the guys to bring their girlfriends or wives to. I'll send out another newsletter once the class material is ready and I've picked a date/time for the class.

This month has been a pretty good one, we are finishing a b16 turbo motor build this week. We finished Dillons B20 turbo a couple weeks ago and Terrances build a week or so before that. Both are running good besides Terrances clutch. It doesn't like anything over 4lbs of boost. We still have some things to finish on Dillons. He has a new fuel pump and 800cc injectors ready to go in as well as some tuning.

I'm looking at having another meet sometime before the end of the year and before it gets cold. Have to plan something before the baby is born, or after. I'll keep you all update.

BS Honda Shop Newsletter - November 2012

I'm finally getting this months newsletter out. A little later than I wanted, but better late than never. As a lot of you know Nicole and I had a baby a few weeks ago so a lot of my time has been helping her and the baby. I'm slowly getting back to the shop and getting projects done.

Our big project right now is Aarons 93 Civic Coupe. It's back in the shop to get the turbo kit installed, new seats, shaved and painted engine bay and a simple wire tuck among some other random things and a full tune. We also have Dillons car back in the shop to get a new block because the old b20 didn't like a lot of boost and his cylinder walls cracked (b20 cylinder walls are pretty thin). So we are building a b18 block and moving all his parts to that. He also ordered a new clutch and turbo manifold. His old manifold keeps cracking so we ordered a new cast iron one.

The shop has a chemical cleaner now, so if you need parts cleaned, hit us up and we'll get them cleaned for you. I've been doing a lot of tuning lately as well, which has been going great. Got a couple turbo motors done as well as some n/a d16's which actually are harder to tune believe it or not. I've got a tune on the wagon I'm testing out tonight on my trip to get my other 2 girls, I'm hoping to get some good gas mileage with this tune.

I'm updating the site almost daily now, so check back often and participate so we can get it going again. Post pictures of your car, ask questions. I am starting to make house calls for the shop. I know there are times it's hard to get your car to the shop cause you don't have a ride or your car is broke down and not movable. I'm going to start doing mobile maintenance and repairs for basic issues like: Valve Adjustments, Tune Ups / Oil Changes, Brakes, Tuning, Wiring issues.

I won't be doing big projects like clutches, axles, motor swaps, those will have to come to the shop. Hit me up if you need anything done, mobile or not. Text is the best way to contact me @ 208-440-1180 for any Honda questions or quotes.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

BS Honda Shop Newsletter April 2013

It's been a while since I sent out a newsletter. We've been extremely busy at the shop lately which is awesome. So awesome in fact that I am leaving my full time job at HP and going full time in the shop. Starting next Tuesday (April 16) I will be in the shop 40 hours a week and the shop will be on a pretty set schedule. I'm going to start with having the shop open Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 7pm. Feel free to stop by anytime during normal shop hours. I will be out of the shop sometimes for junk yard runs and what not, so it doesn't hurt to text before hand. I'm going to be keeping shop rates that same, so hopefully the only change you guys notice is me being in the shop more.

Another fun project the shop has taken on is sponsoring a 1995 Acura Integra Mini Stock race car that will be racing at Meridian Speedway. Our first race will be today Saturday, April 13th. So come out and watch us race. Most of the cars running in this class are mustangs, so it's fun to watch the Integra whoop up on them. Last year in Donovan's civic he generally finished in the top 3.

I'm also going to be teaching more classes now, so keep an eye on your email or the website for more information when the classes are going to be held.

I'll hopefully be sending these newletters out more consistantly now.
